Collectors Corner
Farm Toy Collecting is a little-covered world, uniquely steeped in traditional American values and full of colorful characters. What sets farm toy collectors apart from other collectors is that many of them are, or were, real farmers. As one told us, "Somewhere along the line they've all had their feet in the dirt." Thus they have an emotional connection to the equipment represented by the toys, poignant reminders of deeply significant parts of their lives. Furthermore, for some it is a way of clinging to the family-farm lifestyle they feel is disappearing; a legacy to be handed down through generations to help keep that life alive.
This film will illuminate this world and provide a much needed feel-good look into a uniquely American Midwest pastime. The land is beautiful, the toys are remarkable, and the salt-of the earth people are captivating.
